On Monday and Tuesday, December 10 & 11, MC Student Government Association hosted “Smooch-A-Pooch” from 10 a.m. -12 noon.

Thanks to dogs provided by Midland Animal Services, MC students were able to enjoy the company of adorable canine companions to relieve final exam stress. The event was held in F. Marie Hall Academic Building. Dan Wright, a Senator for MC Student Government, said they got the idea during a regional student government retreat in El Paso, Texas.

On December 11 Midland Animal Services brought an American Staffordshire terrier mix and a Pit Bull mix. “She’s a sweetheart,” said Hailey Hopkins, MC student, about Tiny, the American Staffordshire terrier mix.

The next day, Midland Animal Services brought Tiny back and a Chihuahua mix. “You are so adorable,” said Stephanie Garcia, MC student, about the small Chihuahua mix. Ms. Garcia, vice president of Student Government, said, “Yes, it helps! Students come in thinking about their finals and then see the puppies. It really helped me yesterday with my finals!”

Student Life also had MC Massage Therapy students give 5 minute chair massages for students.

The “stress-free” zone was created to help students relax before and after their finals.
