Remembering Jack L. Sherman, 1930-2012

MC auto tech students gain hands-on training at the ATC's automotive technology lab
Jack L. Sherman
Jack L. Sherman was a true friend to MC. He served on the Midland College Foundation Board from 1993-2008 and was a charter member of the MC Advanced Technology Center (ATC) Advisory Committee.

For 18 years (1985-2003), Sherman owned Jack Sherman Chevrolet in Midland and served in various civic organizations. After his retirement, Sherman moved to Michigan; however, Midlanders still fondly remember Jack’s charismatic personality and his pride in Midland.

MC and MISD students are still reaping the benefits of his sage advice for renovating the old Sears Building located at 3200 W. Cuthbert in Midland into the state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center. Sherman was also instrumental in helping to secure funds and equipment for the ATC’s automotive technology lab.

Rebecca Bell, former director of the ATC, recalled, “On several occasions during the ATC's first few years of operation, Jack would stop by to visit with students and offer practical tips for skills preparation. Current and future MC and MISD students will continue to be able to acquire hands-on training at the ATC because of Jack’s generosity and advocacy.”
