The Midland College Lady Chaparral Softball team made their 2013 home opener a good one, taking on the Cisco Junior College Lady Wranglers at Lady Chap Field. Midland College, now 6-4 on the season, took both games of the double-header with scores of 7-1 and a thrilling 12-11 win in the bottom of the seventh on a single by Earnysha Scroggins. Scroggin's single down the third base line scored pinch runner Leanna Meyer.
In the first game, freshman pitcher Shelby Weissenbach recorded the win. Fellow freshmen Pililani Smith-Keopuhiwa and Taylor Daniels each had solid offensive performances going 2 of 2 and 2 of 4 respectively. Smith-Keopuhiwa recorded a solo HR in the contest.
