On Tuesday, September 17, Midland College celebrated the signing of the U. S. Constitution in the F. Marie Hall Academic Building's Amistad Atrium.

In addition to winning prizes for answering all ten Constitution Quiz questions correctly, students were able to enjoy complimentary cake served by members of the Dr. John Woodson Chapter Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century.

Members of the League of Women Voters were on hand to coordinate voter registration for students, and copies of the U. S. Constitution were distributed.

Event organizer, MC Government Professor Dr. Terry Gilmour, said, “Many times Americans take our Constitution for granted. We hope that this event helped MC students appreciate our democracy and become a little more aware of the anniversary of when one of the most important documents in world history was sent to Congress and the states for ratification. It is indeed a day of celebration!”

Grand prize winners of the quiz designed by Gilmour were MC students Shaunecy Gumm, Malerie Rodriguez and Brandon Powell. Each received a $10 Sonic gift card.
