MC announces addition to schedule of local candidates' forums

A special invitation to the Midland community ... Want to learn more about the candidates in the upcoming local elections, and their views on the issues? Midland College has announced an addition to the schedule of candidates' forums it has already hosted.

On Tuesday, October 22, at 6:00 p.m., Midland College, the MC Business & Economic Development Center and the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will present a Midland Mayoral Candidates Forum at MC's Bill Pace Cogdell Learning Center, 201 W. Florida Avenue. You are invited to come and listen, and ask questions of the mayoral candidates.

Associate Director of the MC Business & Economic Development Center Betsy Fredericks said, “While there have been other mayoral candidate forums held during the past several weeks, none have been held in Southeast Midland.  We are delighted to work with the Hispanic Chamber in providing a forum that will be convenient for residents who live in South and East Midland.”
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Rachel Stone confirmed that all five mayoral candidates have indicated that they will be at the forum. For more information, please contact the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at (432) 682-2960 or visit their website at

A good way to prep for that evening comes up later this week ...

On Sunday, October 20, the Midland Reporter-Telegram (which partnered with MC to host the October 15 debate) will offer readers the League of Women Voters’ voting guide and its own profiles on the candidates based on interviews from editorial board meetings, offering "a thorough review of the men and women on the ballot."

Then there's ELECTION DAY itself ... Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Midland County polling locations that day will include MC's south campus, the Cogdell Learning Center at 211 W. Florida Avenue.
