A busy week at the Allison Fine Arts Building came to a festive end with an evening reception celebrating the opening a new exhibit in McCormick Gallery. “Out of Order” will hang now through March 28. The unique, interactive exhibit is funded through the generous donations of the Rea Charitable Trust and Stacy & Jim Geitgey. It features works by Paula Gaetano-Adi, Brian Hutchinson, Lily Kuonen and Squeak Meisel. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.

Those four artists were in Midland all this week to create cutting-edge, site-specific installations. Their projects incorporated a wide variety of media ... painting, sculpture, printmaking, video, performance and sound. In addition to bringing prepared pieces with them, each artist was also working directly with a small group of MC students to create new artworks for this exhibit. The students were creative collaborators, assisting the artists and gaining hands-on experience with innovative art professionals.

Attendees at the reception enjoyed a unique opportunity to tour the exhibit, guided by the artists themselves, and gaining first-hand insight into their work and their vision.
