Midland College Setter Gafford, Inks with TWU Lady Rams

The first of, what is expected to be, several members of the Midland College Lady Chaparral volleyball program to sign with four-year universities, Lady Chap sophomore setter, Kristina Gafford penned her National Letter of Intent with Texas Wesleyan University (NAIA, Sooner Athletic Conference). Gafford will be playing for former Midland College head coach Kimberly Boone-Weaver at Texas Wesleyan.

Gafford, a Wolfforth, TX native and graduate of Wolfforth Frenship High School, signed with the TWU Lady Rams in a Wednesday afternoon signing ceremony at Midland College. Gafford is a two-year starter for Midland College and head coach Tammie Jimenez.

In her two seasons at Midland College, Kristina Gafford and her Lady Chap teammates compiled a record of 37-20, including going 23-7 overall and 9-1 in 2012 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. Gafford and the Lady Chaps earned their way to the NJCAA Region V West Tournament during her two seasons, advancing to the Region V West Finals in 2012.

Gafford led the Lady Chaps 535 assists in 2013 (used two setters) and 830 assists in 2012. She was also a two time All-WJCAC selection; first team in 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2013 and was named team captain.
