The Midland College main campus will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
The Midland College (MC) Police Department, in conjunction with several local law enforcement agencies, will be conducting an emergency response drill on Friday, July 25, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The drill will take place on the MC main campus located at 3600 N. Garfield Street in Midland.
“We engaged in a similar drill at Midland High School last summer,” explained MC Police Chief Richard McKee. “This year the participating law enforcement agencies decided to run the exercise on the MC campus, which encompasses more acreage and several buildings. Our goal is to run through simulated emergency response exercises. We will then immediately initiate our emergency alert system and shelter-in-place procedures throughout the campus. The drill will involve containment and apprehension, securing all buildings and tending to the injured as quickly as possible.”
Other local law enforcement agencies participating in the drill include the Midland Police Department, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Midland Independent School District Police Department, University of Texas of the Permian Basin Police Department, the Midland Fire Department and the Midland County Emergency Management & Fire Marshall’s Office.
