MC alum, Lady Chap standout is new softball coach at UTPB

• COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Former MC star Tagaloa named new UTPB coach

ODESSA, TEXAS - Former Midland College All-American softball player Tiala Tagaloa was announced as head softball coach at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin by athletic director Steve Aicinena on Wednesday.

Tagaloa comes to UTPB after nine seasons as the assistant softball coach at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Tagaloa transferred to Bethune-Cookman after a stellar junior college career at Midland College, where she played for Tommy Ramos and current Aggie associate head coach Cat Heifner from 2001-02 earning NFCA All-America honors while leading her team to consecutive NJCAA World Series appearances. Tagaloa was the Texas JUCO Offensive Player of the Year, and she led her team in RBI, doubles and home runs ...
