Lady Chap Basketball falls to OC on the road

JC BASKETBALL: Rough first half dooms Lady Chaps vs. Odessa College

ODESSA, TEXAS - The Odessa College women's basketball team looked like it wanted to take out a little frustration on rival Midland College on Thursday night.

Coming off a surprising loss to Howard College — the last place team in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference — on Monday, the Lady Wranglers played great team basketball and forced 21 turnovers to cruise past the Lady Chaparrals, 70-56, at the OC Sports Center.

“I thought our kids played hard, played together, and I was real proud of them,” OC coach Ara Baten said. “I don't know what inspires them but they were definitely ready to play, they were ready to play together. I was proud to see how they encouraged one another. I thought we had a really good game.”

With the loss, Midland College (18-10, 9-4) is now in a tie for second place in the WJCAC with Odessa College (23-6, 9-4) with one conference game left for each team ...

The Lady Chaps are on the road for their next match when they take on South Plains College at 5:45 p.m. Monday, February 23, at the Texan Dome in Levelland, Texas.
