CHAPS BASEBALL PREVIEW: MC’s Prescott adjusts to playing in the outfield

MIDLAND, TEXAS - There are times during Midland College baseball practice when head coach David Coleman stands in awe, watching some of the fabulous catches Blaine Prescott makes in center field. Yes, center field.

Now it would be one thing if Prescott was a regular outfielder before with the Chaparrals, but one has to remember that the sophomore from Amarillo was an All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference first team selection last year and was a 16th-round draft pick by the Los Angeles of Anaheim during last June’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft as a second baseman.

Most coaches wouldn’t dare consider making a move like that after the kind of freshman season Prescott had. And a lot of players would probably pout and be upset at the move.

But Prescott is not like most players ...
