JC BASEBALL: 12-run 5th inning sends Hawks to sweep of Chaps

MIDLAND, TEXAS - If the Midland College Chaparrals was looking for consistency out of its pitching staff, the fifth inning of the second game against Howard College certainly wasn’t what the Chaparrals were looking for.

Howard College scored 12 runs in that inning on six hits, five walks and two hit batters. The Hawks also sent 15 batters to the plate in the nightmare frame. It all equaled a 16-3 run-rule loss in five innings for MC. Howard won the earlier game, 8-4, to sweep the Western Junior College Athletic Conference doubleheader at Christensen Stadium ...
