Trash, Twist and Trick-or-Treat with MC Alumni

As temperatures become milder, many Midlanders claim that October is their favorite month. The Midland College (MC) Alumni Association has three additional reasons to make October a favorite month.

On Saturday, October 1, the MC Alumni Association will participate in Keep Midland Beautiful’s Adopt-a-Spot Program. MC alums will gather in the Pevehouse Administration Building parking lot on the main MC campus at 9:00 a.m. and enjoy the cool autumn morning cleaning up Garfield Street between Wadley and Loop 250. Coffee will be served, and the first 12 alumni to volunteer will receive a special t-shirt. Later, lunch and entertainment will be provided by Keep Midland Beautiful at Hogan Park.

On Tuesday, October 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., former MC students are invited to $2 Tuesday at Twist inside the Midland Four Points Sheraton Hotel, 5518 Starboard Drive, near Grande Stadium. The special MC Alumni mixer will feature $2 draft beer and house wine for two hours.

On Saturday, October 29, the Alumni Association will partner with the Lone Star Pet Sanctuary for the Halloween-themed “Runnin’ Fur Rescues Spooky 5K.” The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be held on the main MC campus, 3600 N. Garfield. MC alumni will be able to enjoy the morning exercising with their four-legged family members. The event includes a raffle and costume contests.

Wendy Gilbert, MC director of Development & Alumni Relations, explained, “These activities are open to all former MC students—those who may have just taken one or two courses at MC and those who completed an associate or baccalaureate degree. The events will offer a great opportunity to meet new acquaintances, reconnect with old friends and network with fellow community members.”
