This summer, Midland College “takes the classroom on the road” to Italy

From Rebecca Bell
MC Dean of Community Relations

Midland College (MC) is pleased to announce another exciting opportunity for MC students and the community to participate in a travel/study course scheduled for next summer, May 29-June 7, 2017, to Italy.

The Panorama Italiano trip includes the following cities/areas: Venice, Tuscany, Florence, Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. The guided trip is available to all; students wanting to receive college credit for the trip may register for English 2332 or Speech 1311.

Trip cost (exclusive of college course tuition) is $5,568. This includes hotel accommodations (two per room), round-trip air transportation from Midland, all ground transportation, two meals a day, all museum passes and a tour manager. Included in this cost is a $200 deposit and $95 registration fee.

The trip is being coordinated by MC Program Chair of English Dr. Pamela Howell ( , 432/685-4628) and MC Department Chair of Modern Languages and Speech Katherine Allen ( , 432/685-6409). The American Council for International Studies (ACIS) is handling all arrangements. Dr. Howell has coordinated many of MC’s travel/study classes in the past with ACIS—most recently in the summer of 2015 to France.

Howell said, “These trips are a great way to study the culture and history as well as view the magnificent architecture and art of Europe. I invite MC students and those from the community who are interested to come with us to Italy for a panoramic view of this culturally rich and beautiful country.”
