Midland College offers second “On Track” session for high school seniors
• NOW is the time for high school seniors to start planning
By Rebecca Bell
Dean of Community Relations & Special Events
On Tuesday, February 28, Midland College (MC) will offer the second session in its popular “On Track” program for high school seniors. The topic for Tuesday’s session will be “scholarships.” The one-hour informative workshop will be held in the Scharbauer Student Center Carrasco Room on the main MC campus, 3600 N. Garfield, at 5:45 p.m. High school seniors and their parents are welcome to attend; there is no fee, and no reservation is required.
“We have been offering our On Track sessions for several years,” explained Ta’Sheena Ross of the MC Enrollment Services Office. “The sessions are offered monthly, and each session covers a different topic about college enrollment. Midland College offers numerous scholarships, and we want area high school students to know about all the scholarships that are available. Because of the abundant scholarships and financial aid, many of our students are able to pay reduced tuition, or even no tuition, regardless of family income. Scholarships are also awarded to MC graduates who transfer to universities to complete baccalaureate degrees. MC alumni have told us that they graduated with bachelor degrees completely debt free from both public and private universities!”
Ross said that even though the first On Track session was held on January 31, students are still welcome to attend the second and future sessions. It is not mandatory to attend all sessions. Other sessions will be held on March 28, April 25 and May 30.
Registration for the fall semester at MC begins April 18, and Ross stated that now is the time to start planning, applying for financial aid and scholarships and completing college applications.
