Scholarship established in memory of MC educator

From Carmen Edwards
Dean, Health Sciences Division, Midland College

Thank you all for your heart-felt comforting calls and messages. As most of you know, Liz Brown was the founder of the Sonography Program at Midland College. She began the journey with us in 2000, and under her leadership and instruction, more than 175 students have entered the field of diagnostic medical sonography. She was passionate about her profession, higher education, and especially Midland College.

Her dear friend and colleague, Laurie Fitzgerald, carries forward the tradition of excellence in the program that is rated number one in the nation. Brandi Havner, the new program director, is also committed to the ongoing success of the program.

Liz will be missed, but her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched.

There has never been a scholarship fund exclusively for sonography students. It is my privilege to tell you that the Liz Brown Sonography Scholarship has been established through Midland College’s Foundation. I hope you will consider making a contribution to honor Liz and to help the students and the profession she cared about.

Peace,

Carmen
