Midland College Health & Wellness Week, March 27-31

• Dr. Sanjay Gupta leads week of activities on the MC main campus

"Let’s get moving MC!” is the theme for this year’s Health & Wellness Week at Midland College (MC). Various activities are planned throughout the week of March 27-31, including a presentation by Emmy® award winning CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Dr. Gupta’s lecture is part of MC’s Davidson Distinguished Lecture Series and is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center. The public is invited to this FREE event; tickets are not required for general admission seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 29, at 11:30 a.m. the community is invited to attend a lunch/lecture—“Atoms to Earth: A Whole-Food Plant-Based Approach to Nutrition”—by Dr. Scott Stoll, a board-certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Stoll specializes in regenerative medicine using natural treatments, diet and lifestyle to aid the body in healing chronic disease and injuries. The cost of this continuing education lunch/lecture is $15.        Friday, March 31, 1:30 p.m.

In addition, the MC Fitness Center is hosting “Walk Your Way to Health” where MC employees will be competing against one another to see who can log the most “steps.”

“Our students lead busy lives,” explained MC Student Activities Coordinator Taneekwa Hurdle. “We are hoping that the various activities planned for next week will help them focus on ways to be in optimum health in order to better combat stress and other diseases. But the week isn’t just for students—we want employees to also have fun with us while we find ways to get moving and lead a healthy lifestyle. We hope all Midlanders will also join us for Dr. Gupta’s presentation and Dr. Stoll’s lunch/lecture. We are proud to partner with Midland Health to make Midland the healthiest community in Texas!”
