Midland College mourns the passing of Marie Hall

Midland College (MC) was saddened to learn of the passing of Marie Hall on Wednesday morning, April 5. Miss Hall was a true friend to Midland College.

Thanks to Miss Hall’s generosity, in 2008 the Marie Hall Academic Building was built and is now home to various academic/transfer classrooms at Midland College and numerous faculty offices.

In 2009, Hall was instrumental in establishing Midland College as an All Steinway School, the first community college in Texas to be named such.

In 2011, the F. Marie Hall SimLife Center at Midland College was established and not only serves as a training facility for Midland College Health Sciences students, but also for students of Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and Midland Memorial Hospital physicians and health professionals.

Previously, Marie Hall made possible the construction of Hall’s Way, the walkway/bridge that connects Midland College to Midland Community Theatre. She also routinely contributed to the arts at MC.

“Miss Hall was one of the kindest, most generous people I’ve known,” said Rebecca Bell, dean of Community Relations for Midland College. “Her philanthropy extended beyond Midland College to the entire Midland community and throughout West Texas. She helped Howard College in Big Spring, as well as Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The new state-of-the-art FMH Natatorium at COM Aquatics was made possible through her foundation. On a personal note, I admired Marie as a woman who was strong, independent and always the consummate lady. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Her legacy will continue through the work of her foundation and the wonderful programs in our community made possible by her generosity.”
