Dean of Community Relations & Special Events
The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a robotics competition. At 10:00 a.m. in the Marie Hall Academic Building, young people and their parents are invited to hear about various careers, including doctor, engineer, nurse, sonographer and teacher. The main event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. near Beal Plaza located outside the Scharbauer Student Center. Directional and parking signs will be located throughout campus to help participants locate the proper area.
“We want to take the intimidation out of attending college,” said event coordinator Alfredo Chaparro, MC director of Community Services. “Our theme this year is ‘Careers.’ We will focus on careers that are in high-demand not only in the Permian Basin, but throughout Texas. We want to show how everyone can achieve his/her career goal through a college education. On Saturday, we invite families to explore the opportunities available at Midland College and discover the advantages that a college education provides.”
This will be Midland College’s fifth year to host the popular See MC/Sí MC day. Community partners for the event include the Midland Independent School District, the City of Midland, the Midland Chamber of Commerce and the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Partial funding for the event is being provided by Chevron Corporation and others.
