MC closed in observance of "the great anniversary festival" ...

"[This] day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

All Midland College facilities will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day 2017. Our facilities re-open and classes resume on Wednesday, July 5. Whatever your observances, whatever your activities this 4th-of-July holiday, may it be a good and safe time for you and yours ... and always be mindful of what we celebrate this day.

"Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and were no longer part of the British Empire."
