On Saturday, July 15, Midland College (MC) will partner with Tall City Blues Fest to offer 10 educational workshops taught by artists performing during the Blues Fest summer signature weekend event in downtown Midland. All workshops will be held inside the Doubletree by Hilton hotel located on Wall Street in downtown Midland.
“The workshops are very popular, but they are also small and intimate, so participants can get hands-on learning and attention,” said Fest Producer Lisa Grissom.
“We have been partnering with Tall City Blues Fest to host these workshops for several years,” stated Brenda Cordero, MC associate director of Community Programs Continuing Education. “Past workshop participants have told us that the workshops are fun, informative and a great way to participate in the Blues Fest weekend. We are so grateful to Tall City Blues Fest for donating proceeds from the workshops to support scholarships for Kids’ College. Funds raised from this year’s workshops will be directed to scholarships for our summer 2018 Kids’ College program. The scholarships are awarded to foster children and others who might not otherwise be able to participate in MC’s summer enrichment program.”
Cordero explained that most of the Blues Fest workshops are scheduled to last one hour and will be held at various times throughout the day on Saturday, July 15. The fee for most is $15 per workshop if registered in advance or $20 at the door. A special offering is a back-to-back harmonica master class which will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Fee for this workshop is $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
